We are currently a team of 25 thinkers, creators, coders and great coffee makers and we are looking for a likeminded individual to join our growing and exciting team!

We are a dynamic agency based in Manchester, known for delivering creative, impactful, and visually stunning work. Our team thrives on collaboration, innovation, and a passion for design.

As a Senior UX/UI Designer, you’ll play a key role in shaping our clients’ visions and bringing them to life. You’ll work with a project team to get under the skin of our clients needs, research, define the objectives and design user-led digital experiences which get results.

You’ll be involved in workshops, user-flows, ideation, sketching and wireframing, through to the delivery and implementation of high fidelity designs. You’ll be confident in presenting your ideas and direction both internally and to clients.

Here at Ultimate, we believe in the power of collaboration and knowledge sharing, so as well as working with your own team, you’d also be collaborating with our in-house Development and Account Management teams to foster our ethos of mutual support and learning.

If you’re inspired by the latest technologies, a team that listens, values your ideas and a challenge sparks your interest, this role will be perfect for you.

Responsibilities

  • You’ll create innovative, user-focused concepts which push boundaries in experience design. Your passion and motivation will push you to never settle on idea number 1 (without trying more ideas first!).
  • Lead customer discovery sessions, including interviews with personas, to validate assumptions and gather actionable feedback.
  • Define key hypotheses, personas, and empathy plans to align with product lifecycle (PLC) goals.
  • Map out and document detailed customer journeys to identify opportunities for design improvements and innovation.
  • Develop prototypes at varying levels of fidelity to visualise solutions and demonstrate to customers.
  • Adjust and iterate on design concepts to improve usability, accessibility, and overall user experience based on customer feedback and testing outcomes.
  • Ensure a seamless user experience by adhering to user-centered design principles and best practices.
  • You’ll understand the clients needs, and work within a defined budget to exceed their expectations within the timeframe.
  • You’ll build and maintain strong relationships both internally and externally – taking a collaborative approach with everything you do.
  • You’ll know that the journey is as important as the destination, and you’ll be confident in presenting your work, ideas and direction clearly, concisely and enthusiastically. You’ll not only welcome feedback but actively seek it.

Skills and experience

We’re searching for an all rounder, someone who has skills and experience in all areas of UX, from research through to UI design. Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • 5 years experience as an UI-UX Designer or similar role
  • Proven experience in UX/UI design with a strong portfolio showcasing your work.
  • Confidence in articulating and presenting your design rationale to colleagues or clients.
  • Strong knowledge of current tech standards.
  • Strong ability to create user personas, empathy maps, and customer journey maps.
  • Experience in prototyping and iterating on designs based on user feedback.
  • Solid understanding of CSS for styling web applications.
  • Familiarity with user research methodologies and usability testing techniques.
  • Understanding of Agile and Lean UX principles to align with product lifecycle processes
  • Creating impactful, high quality design based on strategy and user research
  • Work with developers and other designers to come up solutions that balance user and commercial needs
  • Understands and has experience working with different research methods, can choose the most effective methods and then reflect this in the design direction
  • Understands the role of the brand within UX, and has worked with guidelines or design systems to create experiences that reflect and shape the brand
  • Can plan and facilitate workshops, whether internally or externally
